Dear Baxter, I’m Having a Mother’s Day/Fishing Opener Dilemma

Mr Baxter,

As you know Mother's Day and the fishing opener are happening on the same weekend again this year. I'd love to spend the day with my wife because she's such a great mother to our kids. My mother has passed years ago. My question for you is how can I go fishing and still keep the peace at home. I've been itching to get out on the lake all Winter but I fear if I go fishing there will be problems at home. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Paul,

Tell your wife you are taking her to a Mother's Day brunch. Pack all your fishing gear in the trunk of your car. Pull your car up in front of the restaurant, let your wife out and tell her you are going to park the car. Dropping her off at the door is the classy thing to do. Then, are you ready?  Go fishing!  Or,and this is probably a better idea, go fishing the following weekend and help your wife have a great Mother's Day weekend. Hope this helps.
