As a metal head myself, there are a few bands that I have to give credit to for founding the genre. Among them Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, and Iron Maiden. One band that played a huge role in pushing the envelope of heavy music that often gets overlooked is Deep Purple.

These guys were a big deal back in the day. And why wouldn’t they be? At the height of their powers the bands lineup sported the likes of Richie Blackmore and Ian Gillian, which is pretty impressive in itself.

The band might be getting a little older, but a quick YouTube search will show that their live performances still sound awesome. Luckily for we Minnesotans, Deep Purple is going to be playing at Treasure Island Casino in Welch September 20th at 7 pm. Tickets are on sale now for a low as $30 a piece. Oh, and did I mention Judas Priest is the opening act?
