What can grunge do for you?

Grunge music may be remembered for being pretty...miserable? Angry? The original hipsters? Whatever. The lyrics were supposed to bring awareness to issues, to be "educational" if you will. I still dig grunge, but I never considered it educational in a learning-English kind of way.

One member of the Peace Corp found a creative - and grungy - way to teach Ethiopian kids the English language. He has enlisted the indirect help of Pearl Jam.

Matt Westerberg jokingly wrote the lyrics to Pearl Jam's 'Even Flow' on the chalkboard one day and thought it'd be a fun way to teach the kids some English. The kids laughed their way through it, but then demanded to try it again the next day.

What started out as a joke has actually given the kids confidence in learning English. And even better: the kids got to participate in a video. Check it out below.
