The weather has (for the most part) turned and before you know it garage sale season will be upon us in Minnesota. My neighborhood's Facebook page has been abuzz with plans for our big sale in April!

When it comes to garage sales, there are a few things people should not pass up when they come across them.

1 - VIDEO GAMES

Yes, there are a lot of overproduced and not-so-valuable video games in the world. But some of these old games could be collector's items or just generally hard to find. I sold some games at our garage sale a few years ago that are now worth a lot more than the $3 I was asking for them.

2 - LEGOS

In addition to some of the sets being valuable on their own, one of the coolest things about Lego brand blocks is that they are all interchangeable- you can just add them to the pile!

3 - FRAMES IN GOOD CONDITION

We recently got my son a couple of posters for his room and I was shocked to see the cost of frames! If you see a picture frame in good condition for a great price, you can always find a use for it!

4 - HALLOWEEN COSTUMES

If you have young kids you should be grabbing these at yard sales. First of all, kids grow so fast that it can be hard to bite the bullet on a spendy, new costume. Second, kids just love to dress up in general! Any time you can grab a Spiderman outfit for $2, it is a steal.

5 - VINTAGE TOYS AND BOARD GAMES

Some current versions of classic toys leave much to be desired. They just aren't as well-built as the toys from my youth and are instead made of flimsy plastic that doesn't stand the test of time. If you see a 1980's version of Hungry Hungry Hippos or Gator Golf, swoop it up!
