Former MN Governor Jesse Ventura Boycotts State Fair – Here’s Why
We have heard of events being boycotted for various reasons. Like when the Olympics were boycotted by the United States in 1980. There have been other boycotts that have happened on a large scale such as that, but usually for a reason that most people can get behind.
This one seems strange, although if it's important to you, then take a stand. That is what is happening this year with former Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura.
Ventura has decided that he is boycotting the Minnesota State Fair over their marijuana policy. When talking with WCCO, he had this to say according to Bring Me the News:
Minnesota legalized recreational cannabis use in 2023. Although retails sales full rollout won't happen until next year, 2025, the state fair continued their ban of cannabis on the fairgrounds. Ventura doesn't think that is fair. Keep in mind that Ventura has been hawking his own brand of cannabis. His brand is Retro Bakery.
Retro Bakery has many products available. There are cookies, dark and milk chocolate bars, sugar free tincture, flowers and gummies. The site does state at the top of the page that they are not available in Minnesota. At least not yet.
Ventura is also encouraging others to follow his lead and not attend the fair until their policy changes and is treated the same way as alcohol.
