EUGENE, ORE - A former St. Cloud State University track and field standout has qualified for a spot on the U.S. Olympic team.

Heather Miller-Koch finished 2nd place in the heptathlon during the U.S. Track and Field Trials in Eugene, Oregon. She finished the event with a total of 6,423 points. The top three finishers advance to the summer Olympics next month in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

She finished the day with a first place finish in the 800 meters at 2:09.97.

While at SCSU, Miller-Koch was the 2010 NCAA Division II national champion in the heptathlon. She had the fourth best qualifying time heading into the trials.
