It's true. In an incredible twist of irony, George Harrison's memorial tree has been killed by real, actual beetles.

A tree that was planted in Los Angeles in memory of George Harrison has met a bizarre end.

I'm inclined to blame Ringo.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the tree, which was planted in 2004 in Griffith Park in LA, had grown to more than 10 feet tall, but the beetle invasion was just too much for the poor thing to handle.

City Councilman Tom La Bonge says that a new tree will be planted, but no date has been set.
