It seems like nothing can escape the massive force of the COVID. It's a black hole that sucks in concerts, sports, July 4th festivities -- anything that involves large groups of people being close together -- into its cancellation/postponement vortex.

But there is something that is escaping its powerful grasp, and that is the July 4th fireworks display at Lake Mille Lacs in Garrison, MN. It's put on by the Garrison Commercial Club and VFW Post 1816. The 'Real Life in Garrison, MN' Facebook page says that the fireworks show is happening.

Please join us in Garrison on Garrison Bay for our Annual Fireworks. Please practice Social Distancing.
The Garrison Fireworks are made possible by the Garrison Commercial Club & the Garrison VFW Post 1816.
The July 4th Fireworks Celebration is also made possible by donations from people like you. Please consider donating today! - @Darlene Melquist Stigen via Facebook

They still want to keep the tradition going but ask that people keep their distance from one another to continue to help keep the COVID from spreading.

So even though they having the show go on, there is a funding issue. Firework displays are not cheap, and the funds just aren't there this year with COVID shutting everything down. So they've turned to Central Minnesota for support. A GoFundMe page is up if you would like to help.

It has been officially decided, Garrison will have Fireworks! Now is the time we can really get some donations going! Please share and donate, if you do not want to donate on the website, please mail your donation to the Garrison Commercial Club, P.O. Box 123, Garrison, MN 56450. Make note on the check its for Fireworks! We are really excited here in Garrison, come join us! - Reenie Phillips, Organizer via GoFundMe
