With Purple Rain the musical set to hit the stage in Minneapolis next week, a company is offering a GPS-guided tour of Prince landmarks throughout the Twin Cities.

SoundAround Tours, which is not officially affiliated with the Prince estate, will offer fans of the purple one stops like Minneapolis' First Avenue, the house from the movie Purple Rain, the Orpheum Theater, a Prince mural and more.

“Prince and Minneapolis are inseparable – his music, his story, and this city’s identity are deeply intertwined,” said Kristen Zschomler, co-founder of SoundAround Tours.

“It’s only fitting that Purple Rain the Musical premieres here in his beloved hometown. With SoundAround, we wanted to give fans the chance to go beyond the theatre and truly experience Prince’s Minneapolis.”

SoundAround was founded by Zschomler and Sarah Lee. Their website says the company is 'shaped from our own desire to understand the artists we love, what aspects of their lives shaped their creativity and what is the very foundation of their greatness.'

Because it as app-and-GPS-based tour, they can be taken at any time. SoundAround is also hoping to launch tours in cities worldwide soon.

Purple Rain will play at the State Theatre from October 16th through November 23rd, 2025.
