They always seem to bring in some great music for the liberty block Party. last year The Buckinghams. We've seen Herman's Hermits, Starship and so many more bands over the years.

Grand Funk, formerly known as Grand Funk Railroad formed in 1969 and took the rock world by storm with relentless touring and some very successful albums.

In 1971 the members of Grand Funk fired their manager, Terry Knight, and he sued the band for breach of contract. At one point during the legal battle, while filming a Behind the Music for VH1, Terry Knight repossessed the bands equipment right before they were to play Madison Square Garden.

Liberty Block Party is scheduled during Granite City Days at Whitney Park. It kicks off this June 27th and Grand Funk plays June 28th. And the best part is, it's a free concert.

I'm not sure who is responsible for booking the bands for the Liberty Block Party, but hats off to that person. They are doing a great job.
