HOW LONG HAVE THE HARLEM GLOBETROTTERS BEEN PLAYING BASKETBALL?

The Globetrotters were founded by Abe Saperstein in 1926 before they played their first road game in Hinckley, Illinois the next year. Over the years, they would become famous for their relentless touring schedule which continues to this day.

In 1948 and 1949, the Globetrotters defeated the NBA world champion Minneapolis Lakers twice, which opened the eyes of basketball fans across the country. The wins over Minneapolis also led to the Knicks signing Globetrotter Nathaniel "Sweetwater" Clifton to a contract, making him the first African-American to join the NBA.

The Globetrotters are the holder of 35 Guinness Book of World Records, records and were elected into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2002, the only team to hold that distinction.
