GRANITE CITY 1390 GRANITE CITY HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL REPORT

I will bring to you game summaries of the following teams; weekly and possibly bi-weekly as well. Rocori Spartans, St. Cloud Tech Crush, Sauk Rapids-Rice Storm and Sartell-St. Stephen Sabres of the Central Lakes Conference. St. Cloud Cathedral Crusaders, Albany Huskies, Foley Lumberjacks of the Granite Ridge Conference, the Becker Bulldogs of the Mississippi 8 Conference. Eden Valley-Watkins Eagles, Royalton Royals, Kimball Area Cubs, Paynesville Bulldogs, Holdingford Huskers and Maple Lake Irish of the Central Mn. Conference.

ROYALTON ROYALS 4 KIMBALL AREA CUBS 2
(Monday April 11th @ Royalton)

The Cubs put up a couple runs early to take the lead and the Royals answered with one in the second and three more in the sixth inning. This was the season opener for both teams, overall a very well played game. Blake Albright started on the mound for the Royals, he threw three innings, he gave up one hit, one walk and he recorded four strikeouts. Jonah Schneider threw four innings in relief to earn the win. He gave up two hits, two runs and he recorded three strikeouts.

The Royals offense was led by Drew Sowada, he went 2-for-3 for an RBI and Nick Leibold had a sacrifice fly for an RBI and he earned a walk. Jameson Klug went 1-for-2 for an RBI and he earned a walk and Tyler Swenson earned three walks and he scored a run. Gabe Gorecki went 1-for-3 with four stolen bases and he scored a pair of runs.

The Cubs Skyler Gruba started on the mound for the Cubs, he threw 5 1/3 innings, he gave up four hits, four runs, four walks and he recorded two strikeouts. Ace Meyer threw 2/3 of an inning in relief, he issued one walk and he recorded a strikeout.

The Cubs offense included Ashton “Shuggs” Hanan, he went 1-for-2 for an RBI, he earned a walk and he had a stolen base. Gavin Winter went 2-for-3 with a pair of stolen bases and Cody Leither and Devin Waldorf both scored a run.

BECKER BULLDOGS 7 CHISAGO LAKES WILDCATS 4
(Monday April 11th @ Becker)

The Bulldogs opened their season with a big win over their Mississippi 8 Conference rival the Wildcats. The Bulldogs collected eight hits, including one double and they were helped with six walks. Will Thorn started on the mound for the Bulldogs, he threw 4 2/3 innings, he gave up just one hit, two runs, four walks and he recorded six strikeouts to earn the win. Aaron Fingerson threw 1 1/3 innings in relief, he gave up one hit, one run and he issued three walks. Nick Berglund threw the final inning in relief to earn the save, he gave up a hit, one run, two walks and he recorded one strikeout.

The Bulldogs offense was led by Will Thorn, he went 2-for-4 with a double for five big RBI’s. Nolan Murphy went 1-for-3 for an RBI, he earned a walk, scored a run and he had a stolen base. Nick Berglund went 2-for-3, he earned a walk, scored three runs and he had a pair of stolen bases. Dallen Adu-Gyumfi went 1-for-2, he earned a walk and he scored a run. Brady Taylor went 1-for-3 and he was hit by a pitch and Owen Kalbinger went 1-for-4. Aaron Fingerson earned a pair of walks, one stolen base and he scored a run and Gavin Swanson earned a walk and he scored a run.

The Wildcats starting pitcher Reed Marquardt threw 2 2/3 innings, he gave up seven hits, seven runs, four walks and he recorded four strikeouts. Hentges threw 3 1/3 innings in relief, he gave up one hit, two walks and he recorded three strikeouts.

The Wildcats offense was led by Collin Hucki, he went 1-for-3 with a double for an RBI and a walk. Luke Uhammer went 1-for-2 for an RBI and a walk and Storm Opdahl was credited for an RBI and he earned a walk. Caden Gibb went 1-for-3 and Smith scored run. Reed Marquardt earned a walk and he scored a run, Hentges earned a walk. Joe Graeve earned a pair of walks, scored a run and he had a stolen base and Tyler Drury earned two walks and he scored run.

ALBANY HUSKIES 12 SC CATHEDRAL CRUSADERS 5
(Monday April 11th)

The Huskies jumped out with seven big runs in the first inning, they collected eleven hits and were aided by nine walks. Isaac Evenson started on the mound, he threw four innings to earn the win. He gave up five hits, three runs, issued a pair of walks and he recorded a strikeout. Jacob Adrian threw one inning in relief, he gave two hits, one run and he issued a pair of walks. Caden Sand threw one inning in relief, he gave up one hit, one run, issued a pair of walks and he recorded a strikeout. Brandon Holm closed it out with one inning in relief, he gave up a pair of hits.

The Huskies offense was led by Isaac Evenson, he went 2-for-5 with a double for two RBIs. Carter Birr went 1-for-5 for two RBIs and he scored a run and Caden Sand went 1-for-5 with a triple for an RBI and he scored a run. Logan Harren went 2-for-4 for an RBI and he earned a walk and Carter Shiffler earned a walk, he was credited for an RBI and he scored a run. Payton Krumrei earned a walk, was credited for an RBI, he earned a walk, scored a pair of runs and he was hit by a pitch twice. Brandon Holm went 3-for-4 with a triple, he earned a walk and he scored two runs. Blake Winkels earned three walks, he was credited for an RBI and he scored three runs. Noah Voz went 1-for-4 and he scored a run, Tanner Reis went 1-for-1 an he earned a walk and Brady Goebel earned a walk.

The Crusaders starting pitcher Jack Theisen threw two innings. He gave up three hits, nine runs, issued six walks and he recorded three strikeouts. Jackson Henderson threw three innings in relief, he gave up five hits, three runs, three walks and he recorded three strikeouts. Jackson Phillipp threw two innings in relief, he gave up three hits.

The Crusaders offense was led by John Hawkins, he went 3-for-4 with a triple and a double for two RBIs, he scored a run and he had a stolen base. Cooper Kosiba and Austin Lenzmeier both went 2-for-4 and Cade Simones went 1-for-3 with a double for an RBI. Jack Theisen went 1-for-2, he earned a pair of walks, one stolen base and he scored a run. Trevor Fleege went 1-for-3, he earned a walk, two stolen bases and he scored a run. Grant Wensmann and Steven Ellingson both earned a walk and Ben Brown earned a walk and was credited for an RBI. Evan Wahlin and Tommy Gohman both scored a run.

FOLEY FALCONS 7 EDEN VALLEY-WATKINS EAGLES 1
(Monday April 11th)

The Falcons put up five runs in the fifth inning, that was plenty of support for their pitchers. Logan Winkelman started on the mound, he threw five innings to earn the win. He gave up just one hit, he issued one walk and he recorded fifteen strikeouts. Charles Hackett threw two innings in relief, he gave up just one hit, one run, issued one walk and he recorded one strikeout.

The Falcons offense was led by Josiah Peterson went 2-for-4 for two RBI’s and he scored a run. Derek Dehmer went 3-for-3 for two big RBI’s and Aiden Micholski had a sacrifice fly for an RBI. Trey Emmerich earned a walk, he was credited for two RBI’s and he scored a run. Bryce Gapinski went 1-for-4 with a double and he scored a run. Logan Winkelman earned three walks and he scored three runs. Charles Hackett was hit twice by a pitch and he scored a run and Joseph Thorsten earned a walk and he was hit by a pitch.

The Eagles starting pitcher Jackson Geislinger threw three innings, he gave up two hits, one run, issued one walk and he recorded three strikeouts. Nolan Geislinger threw two innings in relief, he gave up four hits, five runs, issued three walks and he recorded three strikeouts. Xander Willner threw the final inning in relief, he issued one walk and he gave up one run.

The Eagles offense was led by Nolan Geislinger, he went 1-for-2, he earned a walk, he a pair of stolen bases and he scored a run. Jackson Geislinger went
1-for-3 and Myles Dziengel was credited for a RBI. Landon Neiman earned a walk, Sam Nistler was hit by a pitch and Xander Willner had a stolen base.

WILLMAR CARDINALS 1 SARTELL-ST. STEPHEN SABRES 0
(Monday April 11th @ Sartell)

The Cardinals picked up a big Central Lakes Conference win over the Sabres, they scored the only run of the game in the top of the first inning. Ian Koosman started on the mound for the Cardinals, he threw 5 2/3 innings to earn the win. He gave up just two hits, issued five walks and he recorded four strikeouts. Cayden Hansen threw one 1/3 of inning in relief, he recorded one strikeout. Sam Etterman close it out with one inning of relief, he gave up one hit and he recorded a strikeout.

The Cardinals offense was led by Ian Koosman, he went 1-for-3 for an RBI and he was hit by a pitch. Sam Etterman went 2-for-3 and Cayden Hansen went 1-for-4. Sergio Fernadez went 1-for-2 with a double and he was hit by a pitch. Brandt Sunder went 1-for-3, Ridgley Holstein went 1-for-2 and Jason Malmgren had a stolen base and he scored the games only run.

The Sabres starting pitcher was Tory Lund, he threw five innings, he gave up seven hits, one run and he recorded three strikeouts. Jalen Vorpahl threw two innings in relief, he issued one walk and he recorded a strikeout. The Sabres offense included: Carsen Gross, he went 1-for-2 with a pair of stolen bases and Steven Brinkerhoff went 1-for-2 and he earned a pair of walks. Jacob Merrill went 1-for-3, he earned a walk and he had a stolen base, Gaven Schulte earned a walk and Kade Lewis earned a walk.

The Jaguars Will VanBeck started on the mound, he threw three innings, he gave up four hits, two runs, one walk and he recorded four strikes outs. Easton Hagen threw four innings in relief, he gave up five hits, two runs, one walk and he recorded five strikeouts.

The Jaguars offense was led by Talen Kampsen, he went 2-for-4 with two doubles for two RBIs and he scored a a run. The Bulldogs earned their second Mississippi 8 Conference victory over the Vikings. They collected thirteen hits to give their pitcher great support. Nolan Murphy started on the mound, he threw six innings to earn the win. He gave up just two hits, two runs, one walk and he recorded six strikeouts. Hayden Harmoning threw one inning in relief to close it out. He gave up one hit, one walk and he recorded one strikeout.

(Tuesday April 12th @ Paynesville)

The Bulldogs opened their season with a big win over the rivals the Wildcats. They collected eight hits including a pair of doubles to give their pitchers good support. Eli Nelson started on the mound, he threw five innings to earn the win. He gave up just one hit, one run, issued four walks and he recored five strikeouts. Bennett Evans threw two innings in relief to earn the save, he gave up one hit, two walks and he recorded three strikeouts.

The Bulldogs were led on offense by Isaac Lieser, he went 1-for-3 with a double for two RBI’s and he had a stolen base. Grayson Fuchs went 2-for-2 with a double, he earned a walk and he scored two runs. Eli Nelson went 1-for-2, he earned a walk, had a pair of stolen bases and he scored a run. Spencer Eisenbraun, Austin Pauls both went 1-for-3 and Trent Wendlandt went 1-for-2. Chase Bayer went 1-for-4 and Bryce Vanderbeek and Bennett Evans both earned a walk.

The Wildcats starting pitcher Carsen McCain threw four innings, he gave up seven hits, two runs, two walks and he recorded a strikeout. Konnor Rohloff threw two innings in relief, he gave up one hit, one run, two walks and he recorded one strikeout. The Wildcats offense was led by Konnor Rohloff and L. Woelfel both went 1-for-2. M. Tougtges had a sacrifice bunt for an RBI. Carsen McCain earned a walk and he some their lone run. Hayden Christephson, Aedan Anderson, G. Degzer, Bennett Schultz and Brady Lien all earned a walk.

(Wednesday April 13th)

The Bulldogs defeated their neighbors and Conference rivals the Magic for their third conference win this week. Owen Kolbinger started on the mound, he threw six innings to earn win. He gave up seven hits, one run, issued one walk and he recorded four strikeouts. Nick Berglund threw one inning in relief to close it out, he issued one walk and he recorded two strikeouts.

The Bulldogs offense had seven players collecting hits, Gavin Swanson went
1-for-2 for two RBI’s, he had a stolen base and he scored a run. Will Thorn went 1-for-4 for an RBI and he scored a run and Owen Kolbinger earned a walk, he was credited for an RBI and he scored a run. Ben Dumonceaux went 2-for-4 and Jackson Olmscheid went 1-for-3. Nick Berglund went 1-for-4 and he scored a pair of runs and Nolan Murphy went 1-for-3, he was hit by a pitch and he scored a run. Brady Taylor went 1-for-4, Dailey Adu-Gyumfi earned a walk and Hayden Harmoning scored a run.

The starting pitcher for the Magic was Brock Woitalla, he threw three innings, he gave up three hits, five runs, and he recorded eight strikeouts. Nicholas Anderson threw three innings in relief, he gave up five hits, three runs, three walks and he recorded three strikeouts.

The Magic’s offense was led by Caden King, he went 2-for-4 for an RBI and he had a stolen base. Brock Woitalla went 2-for-4 with a double and Zach Anderson went 1-for-4. Luke Branson went 1-for-3 and he earned a walk and Nicolas Anderson went 1-for-2 and he was hit by a pitch. Cal Ulven earned a walk and Tyson Visness scored a run.
