Hockey Enthusiast Takes Helm As General Manager Of ‘PWHL Minnesota’
MINNESOTA PWHL HAS A NEW GENERAL MANAGER
PWHL Minnesota announced their new General Manager on September 4th as Melissa Caruso. Caruso comes to PWHL Minnesota from the American Hockey League, where she has been for 15 years.
MEET MELISSA CARUSO
Melissa is getting rave reviews from PWHL Senior Vice President of Hockey Operations Jayna Hefford. Jayna said, "Melissa stood out as the ideal candidate for General Manager of PWHL Minnesota. Her strong background in operations and governance, combined with her extensive hockey knowledge and leadership experience, make her a great fit for the role. Additionally, Melissa's passion for the game, along with her ties to the local community, positions her perfectly to lead the team both on and off the ice."
WORDS FROM OUR NEW GM
Caruso is a St. Paul resident and said, “It’s an exciting time for women’s sports, and I thank leadership for trusting me with the opportunity to lead PWHL Minnesota during these crucial formative years for the league. I can’t wait to get started on the journey to defend the Walter Cup in Season Two.”
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Caruso has quite an impressive resume. She served as VP of Hockey Operations and Governance at the AHL in 2019, taking care of day-to-day operations, including building the league's annual schedule for 32 teams. She also worked closely with the Board of Governors and managed the league's player registry, regulations, and player eligibility requirements.
Now that we have a General Manager, we are getting messages from PWHL Minnesota's FB page that "A cold front is rolling in on 9-9-2024." Could our PWHL Minnesota team be getting an official team name? How about a Mascot?
