13 Ways You Can Use a Dryer Sheet Other Than for the Laundry

Dryer sheets.  They are great for throwing into the dryer so that your clothes don't stick together, they smell good, and gets rid of pet hair.

But, did you know that they are also great for so many other things than just helping to soften your clothes in the dryer?

The odds are in your favor that you probably have some dryer sheets in your laundry room right now.  So, let's put some of those babies to use for regular household cleaning.  This way you may be able to save on some other cleaning products... maybe.

Let's go room by room.  Southern Living has a great list for dryer sheets... let's start.

BATHROOM

You know how your fixtures can get very dusty, and sometime product buildup?  Dryer sheets can help with that!

Running a moistened dryer sheet over chrome bathroom fixtures will have them shining like the day they were installed. They work even more easily than a paper towel.

How about the glass shower door?  I have double doors in my house.  If you have a shower curtain, then just change it if it's gross.  If you have glass doors, cleaning them can be a challenge.

Because dryer sheets contain detergent, they're also perfect for cleaning soap scum and grime off of shower doors, walls, and fixtures. Moisten the dryer sheet, rub the soap scum to remove it, and then rinse your shower with clean, warm water to remove any residue.

 

Remove static from your hair too!  Just rub a dryer sheet over your dried hair, and voila! No more static!

LIVING ROOM

Dryer sheets are great for dusting and cleaning up pet hair!  Awesome!  Also - if you have electronics around, dryer sheets will clean those up too.  And we all know that keyboard should be cleaned a lot more than they are.

Do you have kids that like to color.... on the walls??  Dryer sheets can clean crayon off of your walls too.  Who knew??!!

CLOSET

How many times have you tried something on, then decided against it, but now you have deorderant marks on it?  Dryer sheets can remove those!  Wish I would have known that a few days ago.

Do you have shoes that squeak?  Rub a dryer sheet on that, and it should stop the squeak.  But, it does wear off, so you can do it a few times, or as needed.

Gets rid of static cling!  Yep, same as in the dryer, you can rub it on your clothes to eliminate that issue.

Keep clothes and shoes smelling great.  Just put some dryer sheets in your drawers and in your shoes.  Perfect!

KITCHEN

Check this out - do you have pots and pans that have burnt on and stuck on foods and stains?  Dryer sheets can fix that!

Save the elbow grease and use a dryer sheet on the stubborn food residue instead. Simply add a drop of dish soap, hot water, and a dryer sheet over the food stains, and let it soak, then watch as the detergents on the dryer sheet lift the mess right off your pots and pans.

Stove top stain remover.  I have a glass top stove.  And it really can be super annoying when you get those stains on it that don't come off.  But guess what?  Dryer sheets can rectify that issue too! Works about the same as with the pots and pans.  Soak for a bit, then rub it clean with a dryer sheet.

Stinky trash cans?  Dryer sheets to the rescue!  Put some of those at the bottom of the can and you shouldn't have to empty it quite as soon as you might think.  Actually wait until it's full before you need to take it out of the room.
