So, I have been driving around St. Cloud for years, as many of you have been as well.  I have heard all of the complaints about people's driving habits, as everyone has.  There has been an epidemic of St. Cloud drivers running red lights, not merging when they should, not knowing how to zipper merge, although that seems like a Minnesota issue, not just St. Cloud, not knowing how to navigate a roundabout.  And the list really does go on.

But this situation has been really blatant.  This particular intersection has had this issue more than any other that I have seen.  People driving South on West St. Germain and planning to make a right turn onto 22nd, heading into Waite Park.  I have seen so many people not even attempt to stop when they have a red light.  And I know they have a red light because the light going the other way is green.

Now, I get that it is legal to make a right turn on red.  But you still have to stop and make sure no one is coming from the left.  These drivers seem to think that it's a merge.  No, it's a STOP! And it's not just an occasional run of a red light, it happens so much that I actually drove the other way to make sure they hadn't changed the sign.  Nope, still just a regular traffic light.  Red means stop, and if it's clear, then you may make a right turn on the red.

This intersection, to me, feels like the worst one.  I'm sure that people would say that others are worse, but from where I frequently drive, this is problematic.  Any St. Cloud police want to hang out in that area and watch?  Probably would wind up giving out a lot of tickets.
