It’s Been a Year Since the Death of George Floyd
The death of George Floyd happened a year ago tomorrow, May 25, 2020. That was Memorial Day last year. In some ways it seems like longer than a year and in others it seems like it just happened. There has been so much unrest following that incident and there has been so much of seeing people rally together since that day.
George Floyd's family organized a march yesterday, to mark the day.
Since the death of George Floyd, the dying statement from Floyd of "I can't breathe" became a statement that was heard and seen on signs around the world. It also became a storyline for a few drama TV shows in recent weeks and months.
During this march, people carried signs with George Floyd's face on them along with other black people who have been killed by police officers. Some of those cases are still pending trial.

There was a rally held as well with some speakers that included George Floyd's sister, Rev Al Sharpton, who is a civil rights activist, and also Ben Crump who is the Floyd family's attorney.
Sharpton said in a speech at the rally:
There is also a George Floyd Memorial Foundation that his family has put together for the purpose of fighting racial inequality. There are some events planned in the near future in the Minneapolis area in support of the foundation.
