The 2025-2026 NFL season wrapped up with the Seattle Seahawks, led by former Minnesota Vikings QB Sam Darnold, beating the New England Patriots 29-13. It was a great game for fans of Seattle, and a night to mostly forget for Patriots fans. However, there were two unspoken Minnesota connections to Seattle in last night's game, and a little bit of history that was also made.

The Seattle Seahawks just notched their second Super Bowl win in franchise history, more on that in a moment, and they did it with a few former Minnesota Vikings coaches on the staff. One assistant coach was former Minnesota Vikings Head Coach Leslie Frazier.

For Frazier, it was his third Super Bowl win, with his first coming 40 years earlier as a member of the Super Bowl Shuffling, 1985 Chicago Bears. That is the longest span between someone's first and most current Super Bowl wins.

Frazier has been the Assistant Head Coach for the Seahawks since he came to the team in 2024. Frazier was previously the Vikings Head Coach from 2010 to 2013.

Some history was made last night: Seattle's General Manager John Schneider became the first NFL General Manager to win two Super Bowls with two totally different teams, according to Yahoo! Sports.

"Seahawks John Schneider is the first GM in history to win multiple Super Bowls with the same organization with a different head coach and no players on the roster from the previous SB team"

Schneider of course, is a St. Thomas graduate and former running back for the Tommies for one season when he attended in the early 90s.

Being a Tommy runs, literally, in the family as Schneider's nephew, Willie was a fullback at St. Thomas and is now with the Seattle organization as the director of pro personnel.
