Meet Chiropractor Tony Dungey — A Packers Fan Passionate About Wellness
Dr. Tony Dungey is one of the three chiropractors at Spinal Rehab Clinic, which has a rich, decades-long history of providing non-invasive pain relief and wellness care in our area. Like Dr. Dan and Dr. Charles, he emphasizes personalized approaches to feeling and staying well. He's here to help people with back and neck pain, shoulder pain, knee pain, recurring headaches, sciatica, fibromyalgia, carpal tunnel, or another condition.
He recently spent a few minutes talking with us about his job and life in Central Minnesota.
1) What is the most rewarding part of your job?
The most rewarding part of my job is watching a person’s attitude and demeanor change as they notice improvements in their overall health. When people are dealing with aches and pain, they are naturally going to be frustrated, tired, and maybe even brief in their responses. However, as a person begins to improve, they express confidence in you, and you start to see a positive shift in their overall mood and energy — and that makes it all worthwhile.
2) What is the most common question patients have when starting chiropractic care? What do you tell them?
For people who are new to chiropractic, they will sometimes be nervous or anxious because this is a new experience and they don’t really know what to expect. I do my best to explain what I am going to do, how I am going to do it and most importantly why I think it will be beneficial. Together we create a plan that we are both comfortable with and then we can make adjustments based on how the patient feels. Every person is different, therefore certain things work for some that don’t work for others, so I like to tell people that this is a learning experience for both of us as we try to navigate their wellness journey.
3) On a more personal level, what are your favorite things to do in the fall in Central Minnesota?
My favorite thing to do in the fall is travel up north, like most Minnesotans! On the other weekends, you will find me at home roaming around outside. We are very fortunate to have a great group of neighbors, so we are often socializing on the deck or watching football in the garage.
4) What are your top three restaurant recommendations in Central Minnesota
Best food in the area can depend on my mood—If I want a good sit-down dinner, I would like to go to Olde Brick House or Anton’s. If I want something a little more casual, I tend to migrate to the Ultimate Sports Bar or Jimmy’s Pour House for a game and a drink.
How do you think the Green Bay Packers are looking this season?
I have a love/hate relationship with the Packers. Some weeks they look like a true super bowl contender and then other weeks they really make my blood boil. I think they will make it into the playoffs this year, but more than likely get eliminated in the first round or two.
