St. Cloud Kids Fish Alongside Police And Firefighters At Lake George

ST. CLOUD (WJON News) -- Local kids can wet a line with law enforcement this Friday.

The St. Cloud Park and Recreation Department is hosting "Badges and Bobbers" at Lake George from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m.

Programmer Cassie Woischke says it's part of the regular Lake George Fishing Club that meets on Tuesdays and Fridays, but with special guests.

That one is a partnership with the St. Cloud Police and Fire Departments.  And, we also have Stearns County Sheriff's Office and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources joining us this year.  You can bring your own gear; otherwise, we'll have rods and reels, and we have some bait sponsored by Stoplight Bait.  It's first come first serve.  It's a great opportunity for kids to learn how to fish, ask questions, and interact with first responders.

You do need to have a fishing license if you are 16 years old or older. The event is free, and no pre-registration is required.

Woischke says last year they had about 200 kids attend.

The St. Cloud Park and Rec Department is also hosting Dino Dig and Fossil Explorers on Saturday, August 22nd. That event costs $5 per participant and pre-registration is required.
