You count your macros and focus on protein.

You plan your workouts and make sure you have the right shoes and equipment. You hit your water goal every day, and you might even invest in pre-workout or other supplements.

But if you aren't paying attention to rest and recovery, you aren't doing everything possible to ensure you're building strength and maximizing results. To explain it in the simplest terms, effective exercise puts your body under stress, so it needs to heal and recover to maintain peak conditions. (UCHealth Today has a great article that explains it more.)

Of course, if you have an injury or strain, you need to ensure that it heals as well as possible to avoid long-term issues.

Both of these types of rest and recovery might involve adequate sleep, dynamic stretching, massage therapy, physical therapy, acupuncture, chiropractic care, and more.

In Central Minnesota, Spinal Rehab Clinic has been offering many of these therapies for years, but they just added StemWave, which promotes healing, relieves pain, and increases the range of motion by activating connective tissue in more than 150 areas, including knees, shoulders, hands, feet, elbows, hips, and the lower back.

StemWave's wand looks like an ultrasound wand but it produces a therapeutic wave that travels 3,500 mph "deep into tissue to initiate a cascade of biochemical responses including relief of minor aches and pains, activation of connective tissue, and improvement in local blood circulation," according to StemWave's website.

It's something you could consider for chronic pain, recurring aches or inflammation, or a new injury — or you could even consider adding it into your current regimen of acupuncture or other treatments.

Want to see if StemWave is a good fit for you? Call Spinal Rehab Clinic at (320) 252-2225 or visit spinalrehabclinic.comThey even offer same-day appointments!
