Popular Minnesota Airport Just Named Second-Best in the Country
You don't have to go very far to find the airport that was just rated one of the best in the country-- because it's right here in Minnesota.
Living here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes, we're used to being near the top of many national lists and surveys that have to do with our quality of life, right? Our schools and universities are top-notch, Mayo Clinic-- the best hospital in the world (for seven years running now)-- is right in our backyard, and in many places, our crime rate is still fairly low.
And now, here's another feather in our Minnesota cap: Our biggest airport was just named one of the best in the U.S., according to an annual survey by the Wall Street Journal (WSJ). That's right, the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) in Bloomington just placed second in the WSJ Best U.S. Airports of 2023 survey.
To come up with their findings, WSJ says they looked at these factors: 'Our report card ranks the 50 largest U.S. airports on 30 measures divided into two categories important to travelers: The first group measures reliability, the second value and convenience.'

They went on to look at ten specific categories that ranked everything from wait times on the tarmac, to on-time departures and arrivals, and amenities that airports get right and wrong, from food and drink to bathrooms to parking, the survey said.
Only one airport ranked better than our own MSP did: Phoenix's Sky Harbor Airport was #1, with an overall score of 63.4. MSP was a close second at 63.2, followed by Los Angeles International, Atlanta, and Detroit. You can check out the entire list below:
Wall Street Journal Best U.S. Airports of 2023
- Phoenix (PHX) 63.4
- Minneapolis (MSP) 63.2
- Los Angeles (LAX) 62.9
- Atlanta (ATL) 62.7
- Detroit (DTW) 61.4
This latest accolade isn't the first time MSP has been noted for being one of the better airports, of course. MSP has regularly placed among the top spots on the annual JD Power Airport Customer Satisfaction Survey, and last year, also placed near the top in another survey of the top regional airports in North America, as well as having been named one of the cleanest airports in the world, as well.
So, well done, Minnesota. Way to rise to the top of yet another survey! Seeing as many of us only head to the airport when we're heading out on vacation keep scrolling for some tips on how to keep your home looking like you're still there-- even when you're thousands of miles away.
