Details Announced For Minnesota State Fair ‘Kickoff To Summer’ Event

Want to get a taste of the Great Minnesota Get Together but don't want to wait until August? The Minnesota State Fairgrounds will host its now-annual 'Kickoff to Summer' event from May 22nd to the 25th in Falcon Heights.

Tickets for each day are limited. Admission is $13 online or $16 at the gate. Children four and under are admitted for free.

The event will feature music from dozens of bands like GB Leighton (Friday), The Rockin' Hollywoods (Saturday) and the Dirty Shorts Brass Band (Sunday).

In addition to the musical performances, there will be a Zumba Fitness class on Friday, a Sock Hop on Saturday and a trapeze show on Sunday.

One of the new events at this year's Kickoff event is called the 'Kickoff Conundrum Puzzle Hunt Challenge,' which promises to 'test your wit and sense of adventure as you explore the fairgrounds in a unique and immersive quest.'

Your mission: An interdimensional rift has opened right at the heart of the Minnesota State Fair’s Kickoff to Summer! It’s a wacky, weird window into the UNfair Universe, and some anomalies from their twisted version of the Great Minnesota Get-Together have fallen through! To save the fair, you’ll need to explore the fairgrounds, discover clues, solve puzzles, and close the rift! Can you crack this Kickoff Conundrum?!

The puzzle guidebooks will cost $10 per player and is expected to take an hour or two to complete.

Other events and attractions to take place at the Kickoff event include an arcade, the Giant Slide ($4) and a weekday 'Spin-To-Win' prize wheel.

Of course, the main attraction of the event is the fair fare. Over two dozen food and beverage vendors will be on hand. Fair favorites like Mouth Trap Cheese Curds, Pronto Pups and Sweet Martha's Cookie Jar will be joined by event newcomers like LuLu's Public House, El Burrito Mercado, Minneapple Pie and Jersey Jo's.
