The former L.A. home of The Doors' front man was damaged by an arson fire over the weekend.

Police and fire investigators say they had a serial arsonist on the loose in the Los Angeles area recently and among the 53 fires they set, one damaged the former home of the late Doors singer Jim Morrison.

The spree began on Friday and the LAFD says that the person responsible for the fires torched two cars that were parked underneath the balcony of the home. While it didn't completely burn down, it did severely damage that portion of the house.

The house, located on Rothdell Trail was where Jim Morrison lived with his girlfriend Pamela Courson and is reportedly where much of the material used on the records Waiting for the Sun and The Soft Parade was written.

The arsonist, by the way has been caught and is in custody.
