Just Keep Chopping! Lumberjacks With Another Weekend Sweep
It was a long road trip weekend for both the Granite City Lumberjack players and their fans, as the team was competing up at Eveleth's historic Hippodrome against the Minnesota Wilderness. It doesn't appear the long bus ride slowed the Lumberjacks down, as they had a weekend sweep, bringing their overall record to to 14-1.
Friday night started off the winning weekend the right way with a 6-1 win over the Wilderness. Granite City so far this year the team has been a match-up nightmare for opposing defenses and goalies, and that was the story again Friday.
Saturday the two teams played a little bit of a tighter game, but it was still the Granite City Lumberjacks coming out on top. The final score from Saturday was 5-3.
The Lumberjacks are back at the lumberyard this weekend with a home series against Willmar starting Friday night at 7:30 at the Miller-Buick-GMC Arena on the Benton County Fairgrounds.
Saturday night the Lumberjacks host the Minnesota Moose, on top of hosting a Toys for Tots silent auction. The proceeds from the silent auction will go towards purchasing toys for Miller-Buick-GMC's toy drive.
The Lumberjacks currently sit in first place in the West Division leading rival Alexandria by 4 games, although Alexandria has played one more game then the Jacks have this season. (The lone loss for the Jacks came from Alexandria when they came back from a 3 goal deficit to win 4-3, a few weeks ago)
