Yesterday morning Leslie West from Mountain called into the Howard Stern Show for an interview. This just two days after having his lower right leg amputated as the result of his life long battle with diabetes.

He made the call in from his hospital bed, though he seemed to be in good spirits. The Mountain guitarist said jokingly to Stern "I’ve just gotta figure out how to play the guitar with one foot."

On a more serious note, Leslie did explain to Stern that he is suffering from phantom pain sensations where the bottom half of his right leg used to be. The rest of the interview went on light-heartedly, Stern even cracked a couple jokes. West also confirmed that he will be fitted for a prosthetic leg soon.

West ended the interview by thanking his wife, the hospital staff, and friends who have supported him. We wish him the best, with a quick recovery. For more on this story visit ultimateclassicrock.com
