Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Raping Teen

ST. CLOUD -- A St. Cloud man has been sentenced life in prison after he provided a 14-year-old girl with alcohol and then raped her last December.

Fifty-six-year-old John Magney pleaded guilty to first degree criminal sexual conduct in April. He will not be eligible for parole for at least 18 years.

Court records show the assault happened at a home on 7th Avenue North in Waite Park.

The girl says she was watching a movie with Magney when he gave her some of his drink, which she believed to contained alcohol. Magney is then accused of putting his hands on her and removing her clothes.

A witness told investigators she saw Magney on top of the girl having sex. He got up and left. The witness then had to help the girl who was struggling to get off the couch and help her put her clothes back on.
