BRAINERD - A Brainerd man was arrested Friday for allegedly stabbing another man in a downtown Brainerd bar.

Police say they arrested 44-year-old Troy Stalboerger after he stabbed a 24-year-old man in the Iron Rail Saloon at about 10:45 p.m.

Officers found the man outside the bar with a serious single puncture wound to the abdomen and significant bleeding. He was taken to a Twin Cities hospital in critical condition. Brainerd Police say the extent of his internal injuries isn't known, but initial reports say he will recover.

Officers found Stalboerger in a wooded area on the south side of the 1000 block of Laurel Street. He was arrested and is in the Crow Wing County Jail.

Police are still investigating and believe the suspect and victim didn't know each other prior to the incident. Anyone with information should contact Brainerd Police at 218-829-2805
