Oh Metallica – they’ve certainly had their ups and downs over the years. They really had a wonderful artistic run for the first 15 years of their existence. Master of Puppets, And Justice For All, Ride the Lightning, and The Black Album are all masterpieces in their own right.

Then of course they did St. Anger and that cringe worthy, narcissistic documentary “Some Kind of Monster” – which really scared off a lot of their original fan base. And don’t even get me started on Lulu (this album is worth looking up only for the comedic value it holds.)

But you know what? I still dig this band. They may be overrated, but they’re still cool in my book. I chalk up their musical disasters over the years as learning experiences. It shows that they’re a band that’s willing experiment and take chances.

I respect that a lot more than groups who play it safe and regurgitate the same album every two years. Needless to say I’m pretty thrilled that the biggest metal band of all time is coming to Minnesota. Metallica will be playing the Target Center on September 4th. The show kicks off at 7:30 pm and you can get a ticket online now for as cheap as $75.
