Metallica Migrates To Minnesota
I’ve spent most of my life being criticized for my strange taste in music. Whether it be Porcupine Tree, Tool, or Mastodon, I just can’t seem to catch a break. I can’t help it though. I like weird, heavy music. It’s my thing. I understand why most people don’t like it though. Metal music is filled with aggression and angst, and for most people, music is usually a way to relax or cheer up.
Metal is definitely an acquired taste. But there’s one heavy band that everyone seems to love – Metallica. Aside from Black Sabbath, Metallica was the first popular metal group. And for good reason. There were tons of heavy groups popping up in the early 80s, but Metallica stood out from the crowd because they learned to temper their brutality with melodic and melancholy elements.
“Fade To Black” “One” and “Nothing Else Matters” are great examples of this signature stylistic dichotomy. Needless to say, I’m pretty thrilled that the most renowned metal band of all time is coming to Minnesota. They’re playing the Target Center in Minneapolis on September 4th. The cheapest tickets available are $176, but come on, it’s Metallica. They deserve our hard earned cash.
