Minnesota Hunter Bags Alligator On Deer Opener, Really!
Here's a story that will most likely be told by family and friends for generations to come. A lot of hunters came home with a deer over the weekend, but I'm betting only this guy also came home with an alligator.
That's right, a 3 foot alligator is exactly what Cory Klocek, from Baldwin township, bagged on the opening day of firearm deer season.
"Well... this was a first for me... Great Minnesota gun opener... Odd Minnesota opener.... this morning I harvested a beautiful 10 point buck, this was my first ever deer with a shotgun, as I am usually a rifle hunter (different zone, different regs). As I'm walking around a pond, tracking my deer, I look down to see a 3 foot alligator 10 feet in front of me." - Cory Klocek via Facebook
Before shooting the 3 foot alligator, Cory checked with a game manager and was given the okay to shoot the reptile.
I've lived in Florida and alligator sightings were pretty common, but Minnesota? It most likely was at one time someone's pet alligator that either escaped or just got too big and was released into the lake by it's owner.
Kind of scary, thinking you could be attacked by an alligator while swimming in a Minnesota lake.
Cory plans on mounting his alligator right next to his 10 point buck. That wall will for sure be a great topic of conversation for years to come.
