Minnesota Soldier Found Dead in South Korea Barracks
Sad news, a soldier from Moorhead, MN was found dead in her barracks at Camp Humphreys according to a Tuesday statement from the military..S. Army
Pvt 1st Class Marissa Jo Gloria of Moorhead, was pronounced dead at the scene after being found unresponsive on Saturday.
An Infantry Division spokesman said the death is under investigation. An unusual step was taken to rule out any links to the coronavirus.due to the global pandemic.
“There was no illness, and she did not present any COVID-19 related symptoms,” Lt. Col. Martyn Crighton told Stars and Stripes on Tuesday.
Gloria signed up with the Army in Fargo, ND in 2019, completed training at Fort Leonard, MO and was sent to Camp Humphreys last April.
Commander Col. Robert Dion of the 11th engineer Battalion expressed condolences;
“Marissa was a key member of the Jungle Cats Battalion,” he said. “We are all deeply saddened by the loss and will keep her family in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”
