Those who work and create things with their hands have unique skills. For many of those folks these were talents that were cultivated from family or friends when they were younger.

Other folks learned their skills after they were older because they wanted a new challenge or there was a change in their lifestyle.

Some of the more popular skills like I’m talking about are knitting and crocheting. Some of these works are so detailed and intricate, it can be a little intimidating to folks who have an interest in learning how to do these things.

Whether you already know how to crochet or knit, you’d like to learn more about it, or even just watch folks as they bring these creations to life, the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum holds a regular event that will be right up your alley.

Knit and Stitch

The “Knit and Stitch with the Auxiliary” will be meeting again this Wednesday. This event has run all winter long and will continue through May.

The folks in this group can even help you get started with a handiwork project in embroidery. They ask that you bring your own materials and project to the Azalea classroom on the second floor of the Oswald Visitors Center.

There’s no cost to join in the fun with the auxiliary, but there is an admission price to the Arboretum itself. If you buy your tickets online, it’s just $20. The Auxiliary meets every other Wednesdays and alternate Fridays from 10am until Noon through May.

There's More To Do

Once you’re done, you can spend some time seeing why nearly 700,000 people each year visit the beautiful gardens and natural areas at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.
