Mitt Romney’s Poor Choice of Words Gets Him in Trouble — Again [VIDEO]
These days, it seems the only time Mitt Romney opens his mouth is to change his shoes.
On Wednesday, the frontrunner for the GOP presidential nomination added to an already long list of sound-byte-friendly gaffes when he told CNN’s Soledad O’Brien he’s “not concerned about the very poor.”
Of course it was only part of a statement — here’s what he said it it’s entirety:
I’m not concerned about the very poor. We have a safety net there. If it needs repair, I’ll fix it. I’m not concerned about the very rich. They’re doing just fine. I’m concerned about the very heart of America, the 90-95 percent of Americans who right now are struggling.”
Still, his iffy choice of words had his campaign in full damage-control mode Thursday, and — fairly or not — his remarks only served to further cement his image as a cold, out-of-touch zillionaire.
Romney’s previous “d’oh!” moments have included publicly trying to make a $10,000 bet with former candidate Rick Perry during a debate, claiming he knows what it’s like to worry about getting fired, and saying he likes firing people, among others.
Here’s a look at some of Romney’s cringe-worthy statements:
