Well, this has been a long time coming.

NEW OUTOOR VENUE

Live Nation teased a new outdoor venue a couple of years ago.  We knew that the new amphitheatre was to be right next to Canterbury Park in Shakopee.  But what was the name?  When will it open?  What shows will be there? All sorts of questions.

The schedule was set to open this summer or late fall.  But, there have been a lot of construction delays, along with some rumored venue names, and nothing really set in stone.

Until now.

WHATS IN A NAME

Live Nation has now revealed that the new amphitheatre that will set about 19,000 people will be Mystic Lake Amphitheatre.  Mystic Lake casino, which is basically across the street from the venue has purchased the naming rights for the amphitheatre.  It does make the most sense.

OPENING DATE

The opening schedule has now also been pushed being that this season is all but over for an outdoor venue.  So, the opening date has been tentatively set for Summer of 2026.

From Bring Me the News:

"We're working towards a full summer 2026 schedule," Josh Lacey, Minnesota Market President for Live Nation

WHO WILL PERFORM

We do not know as of yet which artists will be performing after the opening, and more importantly, who will be the headliner for the grand opening?  You know it has to be someone very popular - HUGE!  I know that some people will immediately go towards someone like Taylor Swift since she just announced a new album.  But that is not something that anyone knows right now.

We can also assume that it wouldn't just be music shows that would be performed there.  There will probably be plenty of other types of entertainment at the amphitheatre too.  Something for everyone to enjoy, no matter what you're into.  Music, rodeos, monster trucks?  There really is no limit to the opportunities that this HUGE amphitheatre brings to Minnesota.
