National Dog Day — One of My Favorite Days (GALLERY)
National Dog Day. I am one of those people who thinks that most of these "National Day of... " is kind of stupid. Like National Ice Cream Day. It's not like I wouldn't like some ice cream or even a deal on ice cream every so often, but a national day? It seems dumb. But now we run across National Dog Day. I day I can totally celebrate.
I was chased by a big ol' Afghan Hound when I was a little kid. It scarred me. But then, I grew up and got a little 10 pound Bichon Frise'. He was the cutest little thing. And it fixed my "dog fear". Even big dogs, I call them all puppies. I don't care if you have a dog that is 150 pounds, I will still go up to it and say "PUPPY"! Why not, right? And hopefully it will be a friendly dog. Our little Bichon lived for 17 years. That's pretty good for a little dog.

Now, we have another 10 pound dog. This time he's a cute little Cavachon. He mostly looks Cav, however much smaller than a normal Cavalier.
Dogs are so much fun to play with, have as a companion, take for walks, or just watch as their personalities develop. The only issue I have ever had is feeling like a dog is much like a toddler that never grows up. That would really be the only draw back. They sniff EVERYTHING. Absolutely EVERYTHING goes into his mouth. Most curious little thing you could ever imagine. And he will try and steal your food....right off of your plate! But he's cute!
Listen every Tuesday morning around 9am as we talk with the Tri-County Humane Society about another adoptable pet. Whether it's a dog, cat, or some other animal, it's a great way to check out if you would like an addition to your family. And within the next week or so, they will be moving into their new facility. That will double their current space.
