Nerdy or Cool? Minnesota Air Guitar Championship Next Month
There are a few things that people will consider as either nerdy or cool depending on where you are coming from and what you are interested in.
Remember back a few years when Guitar Hero and Rock Band were both fun and trendy video games that people were really into? There were even contests for people to compete in. The winner would usually get some great prizes too. Was totally worth it. Even if you didn't win, people would really have a fun time with the games and it was a fun way to spend time doing somthing other than a regular video game. You kind of had to perform to play.

There are also people who take great pride in their skills at air guitar and air drums. I do have fun with air drums, but I would in no way inter into a contest to show off my air drum skills. But to each their own.
This brings me to the air guitar championship! Yes, you read that right... an Air Guitar Championship.
This event is scheduled to happen on May 17th at Route 47 Pub & Grub in Fridley.
From Bring Me the News:
Ok, yes, whether or not you like it, you might be really good at it too, it's still super nerdy. But in the best way. If this is your jam, check out this event. You could win some cool stuff. Like moving from this round into a much bigger event in San Francisco, California! I had no idea air guitar was this huge. Now we both know.
You could just walk on and show off your skills, but you will get a much better result if you do a bit more. Like act like you are really perfoming on a big stage. The judges will be looking for your air guitar skills, obviously, but also on your stage presence, showmanship, and overall perfomance. Pretend you are in an arena performing for 20,000+ people. That might do the trick.
Here is the really cool thing - proceeds from this contest go to support Southern Anoka Community Assistance. It's a food shelf and thrift store
