Pinehaven Farm Seeks Operator To Bring Mechanical Dragon Farfel To Life
One of Minnesota's favorite fall destinations took to social media this week with a unique request: a dragon operator.
Pinehaven Farm in Wyoming, Minnesota is looking for a fill-in operator for its mechanical dragon, Farfel.
Farfel is a hydraulic dragon that interacts with guests and eats real pumpkins at Pinehaven Farm.
The opening calls for a male operator over 25 years old that is 'technically minded and comfortable operating hydraulic equipment,' according to the company's Facebook post. They are looking for someone who can stay in character as a dragon, who is comfortable improvising and is quick on their feet.
"Farfel is a complex piece of machinery, and operating him requires focus, good judgment, and respect for the equipment," Pinehaven Farm said on its job application. "Safety is our top priority—for both the operator and our guests."
The hours are Saturdays and Sundays from 10 AM to 6 PM.
An online application is available AT THIS LINK.
WE’RE HIRING: MECHANICAL DRAGON OPERATOR!
Have you ever wanted to operate a giant mechanical dragon? Here’s your chance!
We’re looking for a male performer/technically minded person to be a backup operator for Farfel the Pumpkin-Eating Dragon at Pinehaven Farm.
This is a very limited, as-needed position. Our primary operator will be away for several days during this season, and we’re also looking for someone who can step in if our regular operator is unexpectedly sick or unavailable.
The right person is a unique combination of:
Technically minded – comfortable operating hydraulical equipment
A performer – able to stay in character and interact with guests
Great with their voice – able to create and maintain
a convincing dragon voice
Quick on their feet – comfortable improvising and having fun with guests
Male over the age of 25 years old – Farfel is a male dragon!
You’ll operate Farfel from behind the scenes, bringing him to life as he interacts with guests and eats pumpkins.
This is definitely not your average job. If you’re part mechanic, part performer, and part dragon… we may have the perfect gig for you!
Pinehaven Farm is now open for the season.
