SARTELL -- Sartell Police officers are looking to take your kids off your hands for a few hours a week this summer.

The department is gearing up for their annual Police Activities League. Sartell School Resource Officer Adam Vande Vrede says the program is the highlight of the summer for many kids.

"I was talking to a student who is an 11th grader and he started attending P.A.L when he was younger. He asked me when it started and he was excited and ready to go," says Vande Vrede.

Each night kids get to play different games like dodge-ball, kickball, water games and arts and crafts with the officers that protect our community.

Vande Vrede says the program is for kids ages 5 to 15, however they won't turn away younger kids who want to participate.

"When they're that real young age we like to know there is an adult around that can be with them. They can certainly be involved in activities and take part in all that P.A.L offers," says Vane Vrede.

The yearly program is designed to have members of the police department interact with over 150 kids in the community in a fun atmosphere.

Vande Vrede says it's free to attend and runs every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. starting tomorrow (Tuesday) until July 20th.
