Scorpions Cancel Remaining North American Shows
The Scorpions have cancelled their remaining tour dates across North America because of throat issues for frontman Klaus Meine. They intend, however, to return to the U.S. again soon.
“The Scorpions regretfully announce that due to severe laryngitis, the remainder of the U.S. 2017 tour will be cancelled," the band said via an official statement. "Klaus Meine has been advised by top throat specialist in Los Angeles to rest his voice. If he continues the tour, he could risk permanent vocal damage.”
Meine later shared his feelings about the cancellations via Facebook: "Dear fans, it breaks my heart to let you down for the remaining shows in the U.S. There will be better days."
The Scorpions' officially released statement also strikes a hopeful closing note. "We truly hate to disappoint our fans, and hope to come back to America soon," they said, "but this time we have no choice but to cancel."
The band said tickets for the tour, named after their multi-platinum 1991 album Crazy World, will be refunded at point of purchase. These dates paired the Scorpions with Megadeth. They hit the road together back in September in Reading, Pa., and were slated to continue until Oct. 15 at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Fla.
The Scorpions are due to tour Russia next, with shows beginning at Sochi on Oct. 28; European dates were to follow.
