As long as it looks like this snow is here to stay for the rest of the season, we might as well embrace what the great state of Minnesota has given us.  Lots of snow.

If you are into snow sports, with the last couple of years being not great for that, this year is shaping up to be great!  At least for that type of thing.

LET'S CHECK OUT CROSS COUNTRY SKIING

One of the fun things you can do around Minnesota is cross-country skiing.  Even if you cannot downhill ski, or you don't want to, cross-country skiing might be your thing instead.  Plus, it's great to get out and explore lots of different areas in Minnesota with groomed trails all over the state.

MINNESOTA HAS SO MANY PARKS AND GROOMED TRAILS

To take full advantage of all the trails around Minnesota, you should start with a ski pass.  This will get you onto the trails available in the state parks.  You can choose either a day pass or a seasonal pass.

The Great Minnesota Ski Pass is your ticket to 1,100 miles of ski trails at over 90 destinations across the state.  Your ski pass fee goes directly toward grooming cross-country ski trails!  If you are 16 or older, you must have a Great Minnesota Ski Pass to ski on groomed trails in Minnesota state parks or state forests, or on state or grant-in-aid trails. Sign your ski pass and be sure to carry it with you every time you go skiing. (If you prefer, take a photo of both sides of your pass and carry it on your phone.)

GET A PASS FOR A DAY OR FOR A YEAR OR MORE

The price of these passes varies depending on what you would like.  You can do a day pass for just $10, a year pass is $25 and a 3 year pass is $70. This gets you access to all of the state - run areas.  The year passes go from July 1 to June 30th.  So, it also gives you access to the parks throughout the year.

Or - just go ahead and ski around the area by your own house if you have the room to do it.  That can be pretty great too!
