If you ever head out on vacation to somewhere coastal such as California or New York, people always seem to look down their noses at us "Midwesterners".  Like we don't have the culture of those bigger cities that are on the coasts.

As new fashions and trends go, usually it starts out on the coasts and then moves in to towards the Midwest.  That's just the way things are.

MINNEAPOLIS/ST PAUL CULTURE

The Minneapolis/St Paul area actually has great culture.  Such as performing arts, the music scene is pretty awesome, and we do have the Mall of America.  As much as people in Minnesota want to say they hate it, it really does have something for everyone and is a tourist attraction.

HIGH END SHOPPING OPTIONS

If you would like some higher end shopping, you do have that option too.  The Galleria was really the only thing that we had in this state for that type of shopping.  Now, in direct competition with the Galleria, is Southdale Mall.  Which, by the way, was the first indoor mall.

Southdale mall just opened their "luxury" wing.  They opened a few stores such as Ralph Lauren, Marc Jacobs and Coach.  There are more on the way such as Gucci, Moncler and Max Mara which are scheduled to open this summer.  And some stores that made the switch/move from the Galleria to Southdale Mall.  Some of those include David Yurman, Louis Vuitton and Tiffany & Co.

Locally owned Galleria isn't waving the white flag. Rachel Oelke, a spokesperson for property manager Hines, told Axios in an email that it will begin construction this spring on a redevelopment of the space left behind by Gabbert's in 2020.

No one is really losing in this scenario.  Now, if you are interested in that type of product, there will be two high end shopping options.

BUDGET HIGH END SHOPPING OPTION

If you want a lower price for higher end items, there is also the Premium Outlet Mall in Eagan.  Great place to shop, especially in the Summer.
