Budget Airline Spirit Ending Service to Minneapolis/St. Paul
We have been talking a lot about the cost of things and what are ways that you can save some money and still get the desired outcome? One of those things is definitely air travel.
TRIP BUDGETING
If you were really looking for a great deal on a flight, budget airline Spriit was a go-to for a lot of people. Their no frills flights were sometimes a bit annoying as I found that they would "nickle and dime" you for almost everything. They really had a lot of restrictions on what you could take on a flght and what youi could not. Also - make sure you stock up on food and drinks before you get on the flight because that's what you get. At least the flight that I was on only offered a beverage service.
SPIRIT FELL SHORT IN MANY WAYS
If you wanted to upgrade your seat on the flight that was another cost and what you got was basically a normal seat on a regular airline such as Delta or American. If you didn't get the upgrade I hope you are only about 5'5" or you have a very short flight because it was super uncomfortable.
I did like the fact that if you didn't want anything extra, and I mean anything, Spirit could be very affordable. I drew the line at Spirit after one flight, but that's just me.
WHAT IF YOU HAVE A FLIGHT BOOKED WITH SPIRIT
Spirit Airlines filed for bankruptcy in November of 2024 and agan in August of this year. Not sure how that can happen, but it did. Now they are stopping their service to Minneapolis/St Paul Internarnational airport to focus on "larger markets". The service wlll officially stop the beginning of December. If you do have a flight scheduled with Spirit after that, youi will be receiving a refund.
FIND ANOTHER BUDGET AIRLINE
Now, the search is on to find another budget airline flying out of Minneapolis. Sun Country and always been the go-to for years, but now even they are getting to be more expensive. So, this might require some creative flying schedules and timing.
