ST. CLOUD - A few weeks ago Mark Giese challenged the congregation at First Presbyterian Church of St. Cloud to help fill 50 five gallon buckets with supplies for hurricane victims around the country.

Nearly 300 buckets later Geise, the Director of Youth and Campus Ministry says he is blown away by the incredible support shown by all who have helped.

"It is very humbling and inspiring just to hear all the stories of how people heard about us."

Even though the Giese only challenged the church, the response came from cities all over Minnesota. Congregations from Alexandria, Underwood, Lake Crystal and Willmar have all helped with donations.

The buckets that were filled by dozens of volunteers at the church Sunday afternoon were being filled with items to help people with the clean-up efforts.

"We have been packing cleaning related products. If you walk into a home and it has been damaged with flood water a lot of things need to be cleaned."

The filled buckets will go to the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance so they can be distributed to places that need them the most.

The church will have another packing session next Sunday around 11:15 a.m. If you would like to help or donate you are asked to call 320-251-8277 or email Giese at mark@fpcstcloud.org
