When I was a wee lad I had two loves (not including Star Wars.) Those loves were music and baseball. I was never an athletically inclined person, so playing sports was always difficult for me. But for some reason I really fell in love with baseball.

I had some of the best times of my life playing little league with my buddies. It was a blast, and I actually got the point where I was a fairly reliable ball player (it was the only sport I was ever any good at.)

When I got a little older and started playing in the upper leagues, I realized that I just didn’t have the talent to stay with it. My poor performance was hurting my team, so I eventually chose my love of music over baseball.

I was a lot better at it and it wound up sticking with me my whole life. When I was in school I played the saxophone in band, and spent 7 years playing in a concert band setting, so I definitely have an appreciation for that style of music.

As I was browsing online for fun events to go see I was pretty thrilled to see that the St. Cloud Municipal Band is putting on a performance May 14th where they’ll be performing baseball music. It’s my two childhood loves at the same time, so I’m definitely going to check it out. The show starts at 7:30 pm at the Paramount Theatre (St. Cloud) and you can get your tickets online now between $6 and $10.
