UPDATE: Police Release Name of 7-year-old Boy Pulled From Mississippi
ST. CLOUD -- St. Cloud Police and Fire pulled a young boy from the Mississippi River near Munsinger Park.
Assistant Police Chief Jeff Oxton says officers were first called around 11:30 Friday morning. When they arrived they learned a 5-year-old had been playing with his 7-year-old brother in the river.
Around noon, firefighters in one of the rescue boats found the unresponsive body of 7-year-old Faud Rahey of St. Cloud. CPR was started by both fire and police personnel. Rahey was taken to St. Cloud Hospital, and pronounced dead at 12:28 p.m.
Assistant Chief Oxton says their hearts go out to the family and friends of the victim.
"It's a sad day today in St. Cloud as we've lost one of our children in the community. Our hearts go out the family and friends of the 7-year-old."
The investigation of the incident is active and the boy's body will be sent to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner's Office. Oxton says the police do not suspect foul play.
