ST. CLOUD -- A St. Cloud woman who stabbed a man last November has had her three year and three month prison sentence stayed and will be on probation for seven years.

The Stearns County Attorney's Office says 40-year-old Maritza Lockett must undergo chemical dependency and mental health assessments, abstain from mood altering chemicals and pay restitution to the victim.

Lockett was charged with 2nd degree assault with a dangerous weapon and 5th degree assault after an altercation in St. Cloud. She pleaded guilty to the second degree assault charge in August.

According to the criminal complaint, St. Cloud Police responded to a reported stabbing in the 3600 block of Division Street West around 1:00 a.m. on November 25th, 2016.

The male victim said he had been stabbed by Lockett in his right shoulder. The victim told police he had attempted to dodge her assault. Another witness at the scene told authorities he saw Lockett “grab an object and jab it” at the victim’s shoulder.

If Lockett violates the terms of her probation, she could be forced to serve the 39-month prison term.
