ST. CLOUD - The next time you book a flight on Sun Country Airlines you just might be flying on the "Lake George". The Minnesota-based airline has just launched their "Hometown Lakes Project" where every plane in their fleet will be named after a Minnesota lake.

One of those 24 planes will feature our lake in downtown St. Cloud. Kelsey Dodson-Smith is the Vice President of Marketing at Sun Country. She says they knew right away that they wanted to feature the lake.

We just loved the serenity of the lake,  You know it's right downtown in St. Cloud. One thing with these lakes is that they all have a different set of personalities or attitudes.

Dodson-Smith says each plane will have special customized artwork on the outside of the plane, as well as inside the cabin area.

She says travelers will board the "Lake George" on their way to a lot of destinations.

So Lake George will be flying in to Mexico, the Caribbean, New York, Boston, Denver and Portland and all of our destinations.  We just think it will be fun to showcase the state of Minnesota no matter where we fly.

As for whether you'll be able to board the "Lake George" here at the St. Cloud Regional Airport someday, she says - maybe...

Potentially.  I will definitely talk to our scheduling crew to see if that's something we could work out. That would be a lot of fun.

Sun Country flies a few charted flights between St. Cloud Regional Airport and Laughlin, Nevada throughout the year.

Some of the other lakes in the series include: Lake Harriet, Lake Hiawatha, and Lake Bemidji.
