Former Journey lead singer Steve Perry is revealing he had a cancer scare.

In the post, Steve Perry explains that he fell in love with a woman who was dying of cancer and his very own brush with the disease.

Steve says that he was with a friend who was an editor for a show on the Lifetime Network about women with breast cancer. In it was a woman named Kellie who caught Steve's eye. He contacted the producers who agreed to set up a meeting, but warned him that she was in Stage 4 and in a battle for her life. Steve and Kellie dated for 18 months, until she died this past December. He says in the post that he and Kellie "loved each other so very much." He says he has spent the past few months, "Recalling everything being in love with Kellie taught me."

He also revealed that he had a cancer scare last month.

He says that he had a mole removed from his face and the lab tests came back positive for melanoma skin cancer, explaining, "I've had two surgeries in two weeks to remove all the cancer cells and I've been told they think they got it all and no other treatments are required."
