Summit Avenue Walking Tours, September Through October

One of my favorite passtimes is driving through old neighborhoods and checking out the cool architecture. There are a few neighborhoods in Minnesota that fit that bill. Certain areas in Duluth, and probably one of the most famous - other than just one house - is Summit Avenue in St. Paul. The whole neighborhood has amazing houses.

TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THESE WALKING TOURS WHILE THE WEATHER IS NICE

This coming weekend, September 24-27, there are tours available to check out the mansions along Summit Avenue. This is normally an annual event, however, it was on hiatus last year. There is another set of tours set up for next weekend as well, October 1st through the 3rd.

THERE ARE A FEW DIFFERENT TOURS TO CHOOSE FROM

You can pick from a few different types of tours. These are self guided walking tours and surround the James J Hill house, Summit Avenue walking tour (about 1.5 miles long) or the Nooks and Crannies tour. Not all tours are running every day, either, so youi do need to look at which one interests you the most, and go from there. Tickets are separate for each tour Prices range in price depending on if you are an adult - $15, 12 if you are a student, military or a senior. $8 for kids 5-17 years old. Under 5 is free. The James J Hill House is mostly a museum, so you are allowed inside. The Summit avenue self guided walking tour is just the outside of several of the Victorian homes on Summit Avenue.

THE TICKET PROCEEDS GO TO A GREAT CAUSE

The proceeds from these tours goes to support the neighborhood and keeping everything looking nice and preserved.

To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.
