The first 2024 bear harvest numbers are in from the Minnesota DNR and they are impressive. Glen Schmitt from Outdoor News joined me on WJON. The first days of the Bear hunt September 1-3 Schmitt says, more bear were shot in the state that all of last season.

The opening of bear, teal, goose and dove seasons are Sunday in Minnesota. Glen Schmitt from Outdoor News joined me on WJON. It may seem odd that these seasons start on a Sunday but Schmitt explains the earliest these seasons can start based on framework set up by the Fish & Wildlife Service is September 1.

The early teal hunting season ran from September 2-6, early goose started September 2 and goes through September 17th and Bear hunting started September 1st and continues through October 15.
